I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Beco Baby Carrier. I actually been having a long affair with my Beco Baby Carrier. It all started before Mikey was born. You see when I had Kaia I knew after she was born that baby wearing was right for us, it just seemed so natural. I knew very little about baby wearing and I was the first of my friends to have a baby so I purchased what I saw everyone else wearing, a Baby Bjorn. I knew I wanted to baby wear it felt right to me but the Baby Bjorn did not feel right. The straps were uncomfortable and my back was often in pain. I took it all in stride until one day something happened. I feel horrible about this and honestly I have questioned writing it. One day when we were at a playdate I was wearing Kaia in the baby bjorn I had made sure that the straps were properly fastened as I did every time I put the Bjorn on. I kneeled down to get something out of my diaper bag and Kaia fell out. The side latch had opened up (even though I had checked it earlier and it was secure). Luckily I was kneeling so she fell maybe a foot to a foot and a half from the floor. Still I felt awful, luckily she was fine. She had a scrape on her forehead and cheek but that was all. That was it for me. I would never use that carrier again. I started to do my research. I joined an attachment parenting group- FULL of baby wearers ( my people) and started to ask about carriers. I found out about several companies that made carriers I liked. One in particular had videos and the cutest prints on their carriers. I researched a little more and decided it was the carrier for me. That’s when I first met my Beco Baby Carrier.

It came in the mail so quickly it was here the day after I ordered it! Right away I noticed some features that were different from other carriers. First things first the waist belt is made for a wider range of sizes. So if you are heavier set like me the Ergo Carrier may be a little tight you would need to get a belt extension the Beco Baby Carrier has room to spare. I think this carrier will fit most Mommies and Daddy’s.
The straps are thinner they are not at all bulky yet they are just as cushiony as some of the bulkier carriers I have used. I don’t know how they do it but the straps are actually the most comfortable of my soft structured carriers. This is so important because if you are carrying your precious little bundle of joy the last thing you want is achy shoulders and an achy back. The belt strap gives you great back support so do the shoulder and chest straps. So whichever way you decide to carry your baby ( back or front carry) you will be comfortable doing so.

Next this is actually my very favorite part of the Beco Baby Carrier it seems a little odd but if you have used other soft structured carriers you will know what I am talking about, and if not allow me to educate you. When you use a soft structured carrier in most cases there is a waist strap, shoulder straps and a chest strap. When you put your baby in you have to make sure that the waist belt is very secure and you have to carefully maneuver your baby in and hope they don’t lean to the side because they can wriggle out in the adjusting time. In the Beco Baby Carrier there is actually an inside panel. You put your little one in and they are automatically in the right place not too much extra adjusting necessary. This makes putting the baby on SOOO much easier and it makes taking them out easier as well. Next the infant insert. First every Beco Baby Carrier comes with one. Most soft structured carriers sell theirs separately so its an added fee. Not the Beco Baby Carrier it comes with an easily adjustable infant insert. You can remove it and store it for the next baby when not in use. When I used mine I had my childrens legs froggy style. They seemed more comfortable that way.

Lets talk buckles. The Beco Baby Carrier has buckles that take two hands to release. Your child is not getting these open. So no worries there, all the straps are also very easily adjustable *** Even more so on the newer model which I just reviewed***. I really like the changes made. The new way to adjust the straps and buckles not only makes adjusting easier it also makes breast feeding so much easier. It is also very discreet.
There is a hood on the carrier which is great for weather situations. I have used it as a sun shade, wind and cold weather shade, but mostly I use it when my little ones dose off. Not only does it give them a little privacy it also keeps their heads from flopping about.
Last but not least the prints. They are beautiful. I wish I could have a carrier in every print so I could just choose one to match my mood for the day. Beco Baby Carriers come in standard black or brown, but also with beautiful prints that can jut brighten your day.
