Only use Gatorade or G2 bottles for the sensory bottles they are a heavier plastic so they hold up better and keep a unison look so everything looks good. They come in different sizes you can find smaller ones for small hands if you need to.
Make sure to ALWAYS seal your bottles securely! I cannot emphasize this enough. Unless you want your bottle opened and the contents poured out. SEAL IT… with glue. Duct tape can be peeled off by a determined kiddo. Glue is much harder for them to open up.
Cartesian Diver Bottle
You will need:
An empty bottle
pair of scissors
optional (pair of pliers)
First Cut down the straw and then slide the washer on
Bend the straw in half making sure you have a tight crease in the center where the washer sits
Next (if you have pliers use them) you can either pinch the ends together with your fingers (what I did) or use pliers. I kept using the lighter to melt the straw and then I would quickly pinch the sides together with my fingers to mold them together. If you use pliers it will be easier on your fingers. You want to make sure the ends are completely sealed and melted together.
Once you are sure your diver is completely sealed. Drop it in the water.
And watch it float. You can trun your bottle over and over again your diver will always dive!
We left some space at the top without water. So the diver would not be squished at the top.
Mikey decided he wanted to add some color.
