Shaving Cream Playdate

We had an amazing time at our Shaving Cream Play date.

The kids had the best time and we went through 19 cans of shaving cream!

I set out a large tarp and covered it and our two slides in shaving cream
This was the hugest hit. The kids were rolling in it slipping in it and sliding in it.
It was a super messy fun time
I had shaving cream in our sensory tables to
This is shaving cream and water with liquid water colors
Filling pools to try and get clean
Covered from head to toe in shaving cream
Shaving cream with eye droppers and liquid water colors. The kids then dragged and mixed in the colors
Having fun feeling the shaving cream and squishing it between their fingers
We made a swamp in our water table adding shaving cream and stirring
running and sliding on the tarp
The kids were on the slides most of the time
And so were some of the Moms!
How can you resist sliding and rolling in shaving cream
Learning about the clouds and rain. it was perfect because it had been raining this morning
Watching the color/ rain come down
Getting ready to add rain drops
Adding water colors to the top of the cloud cover above you can see what happens when the cloud gets to full.
The kids loved seeing the color burst through the cloud layer (shaving cream)
This was a fantastic play date. Get ready for our next one on Friday it will be just as awesome!

Mud Play Date

We had an awesome playdate I have been planning this ever since Mikey’s Messy Birthday Party!

I made mud paint. I mixed powdered tempera paint with mud and let the kids fingerpaint or brush the paint onto the paper. Throwing mud paint balls at the paper became a favorite.

The paint was actually pretty awesome

Mud body painting

Mud car painting

Mudpie making with pie tins, cupcake tins, bowls, candles and more!

Making mud pies

I had a pool full of gardening tools, flowers and little planters next to it

Mud pit filled with bugs and tongs to dig them out

Digging for bugs and then…

Mud ball fight

they were coated by the end

The kids had so much fun sliding into the mud pools

The more coated the slides were with mud the better they were!

We had two mud slides with pools at the bottom

Mikey at the bottom of the mud slide

Ooey Gooey Squishy Mud

After everything getting clean in the Kid Wash the kids named the “Mud Wash”

Water and Ice Play Date

We had an awesome play date that was a Water and I ce theme. The day before Kaia and I spent the afternoon making lots of ice filled with hidden treasures. We used bowls, muffin tins, ice cube trays and random plastic containers (like empty yogurt container)

Finding treasure in the ice. The kids discovered that throwing the ice down at the ground would break the ice and set free the treasures.

We talked about how the ice felt and how cold it was

We also added ice to our sand table. Kaia and I had talked with Kaia earlier about how in some parts of the world people build with ice. So she was excited to add “ice building blocks” to the sand

We had a sink and float table

the kids predicting what would sink and what would float

We of course had the water wall open and ready to play with. the kids especially like the funnels

I had two pools set up one with ball pit balls and the other with spongee balls and water squirters

The kids loved sitting in these and just playing with the water and floating toys

I have to admit these colorful pools were very tempting

I also froze tempera paint the day before and had that available for the kids to paint with. It was fun usually I use frozen watercolors but I liked the difference in texture these were more crayon like

I also had two slides set up with small low blowup pools connected at the bottom so the kids would slide right into the pools

This was another favorite

And last but not least we had our kid wash out and ready. Really with a water party how could we not?!

I also had spray bottles filled with water and roller brushes our for dipping in water and painting the walls and floor with!

Educational Insights GeoSafari Jr Talking Bug Net Review and Giveaway

Summer is in full swing and my kiddos love playing outside. Truthfully we spend as much time as possible outside there is just so much to see and do. Especially when you have exciting activities to look forward to. One of my kiddos favorite activities is to go on bug hunts. We have gone on real bug hunts and ones that I set up for them with plastic bugs but by far their favorite has to be the GeoSafari® Jr. Talking Bug Net™ set up by Educational Insights . This set is so fantastic because the net gives the kids facts and even quizzes them on what they have learned asking “What bug has…?” I like that we can set this up inside or outside, really wherever we like and the kids enjoy hunting for and finding their bugs and then learning about what they have caught. I think it is fantastic that the net actually differentiates between the bugs. Knowing which bug has been caught in the net. This is definitely a great toy for any bug loving kiddo and may even develop an interest in bugs for someone who has been a bit uninterested in bugs in the past.

The net knows which bug you’ve caught!
Ages 4+
Choose a bug and drop it into the net to hear 100 amazing bug facts and quiz questions! Then listen as the Talking Bug Net asks you creepy, crawly questions using the facts you’ve learned. Grades Pre-K+
This amazing set includes:

Speaks dozens of bug facts, phrases, games, and instructions
