Pretend City Valentine’s Day 2 for 1

During the month of February, the heart shape is all around us! One vital developmental milestone for children is to recognize shapes which strengthen classification and problem solving skills, but we are going to take the heart to a whole other level! This month we will be focusing on the body and it’s most important organ, the heart! How early should a child know about body parts? It’s never too early to learn! Even as small infants, children begin to show curiosity about parts of their bodies like staring at their hands and bringing their toes up to their mouths. Join us during this “heartastic” month as we delve into the secrets of the heart not only from the organic way but the symbolic way while we celebrate Valentine’s Day – the day of love!

Daily Valentine Themed Art Activities- All Month Long
This month in the art studio do something for the little one in your life by allowing them to creatively express themselves through artistic creation. Choose the day that will best suit your little ones developmental level:

* Tuesdays – Young Toddler (12 – 24 months), Toddler (2-3 years): Close to My Heart – These special art projects are designed as keepsakes that you will keep close to your heart forever.
* Wednesdays – Preschool (4-5 years): Paper Party – Today your preschooler will have a paper party while using recycled paper to create heartastic projects!
* Thursday – School Ages (6 years and up): Hearty Holidays – As your children enter school they become more aware of the calendar and all of the special days within the year. On Thursdays, let’s focus on all of those special holidays in February by creating works of art!
* Fridays- Kindergartners (5-6 years): Heart Art – Hearts not only keep your bodies moving, but in a symbolic form are an expression of love and poetically refer to one’s soul. Using these meanings and this symbol, your child will work to create their very own heart art.

Valentine’s Day Celebration- Tuesday, February 14th
Fun activities all day long, including:

* Sensational Story Time: The Kissing Hand – What better way to celebrate the day than with a story about the love of family!
* Poetry Play: Love Poem – Poetry is another language used to express love and it only needs a few words. By 2 years of age your child can express themselves in simple words. Use these words to create a love poem to remind you of these special times.
* Symbols in a Second: Hearts, Cupids, and Roses – oh my! During this holiday many symbols are seen in the community that represents Valentine’s Day and so much more. Today is your chance to learn more about these symbols and what they represent.
* Good to Go Game: Pin the Arrow on the Heart – Watch your child turn into cupid as they try to pin the arrow on the heart!

Little Partners Learning Tower (Rv$199.99) Review and Giveaway

And the Winner IS: Lena

The Learning Tower is one of my favorite products of all time. I honestly love it and so do my children. Here’s why first safety. I have always enjoyed cooking with my children. Usually they pull up a chair and help. I cannot tell you how many times Mikey and Kaia have fallen off a chair they were standing on, luckily they have never been seriously hurt but it’s just not safe. Plus they for some reason they always argue over which chair they are pulling up they always want the same chair but they cannot both fit on it so squabbling ensues. There is a height issue as well. None of our chairs or stools are the right height for Mikey. The Learning tower is height adjustable so Mikey is always at the right height the tower rests flush againt our chopping block and counters so that he is right where he needs to be. Both Mikey and Kaia fit inside and they each have room so they are happy to share the space. The Tower is easy for both Mikey and Kaia to get in and climb out of. Next aesthetics. The Learning Tower is beautiful. It really is. It has a beautiful finish that is very easy to clean all you need is a damp cloth. It has accessories that are equally beautiful and help with even more functionality. The Learning Tower grows with your child it has adjustable height placements that you can do without any tools. You can also pull out the platform and have the Learning Tower double as a playhouse. The easel is magnificent There is a dry erase board on one side and a chalkboard on the other the tray adjust so you can place it on whichever side you need it on The easel is easy to securely attach again without tools and it comes with a wall mount as well so you can use it even after you are done using the Learning Tower itself. The Learning tower is very secure and made of real wood not particle board. It was very easy to put together and took maybe ten to fifteen minutes from start to finish to put it all together. We are huge fans of this absolutely magnificent product.

Zylie the Bear and Shen The Panda Review and Giveaway (RV 150)

And the Winner IS: Allison B.

Every Valentine’s Day when I was little my parents would give me a stuffed animal or 18 inch doll. I looked forward to Valentine’s Day morning knowing I would have a special gift waiting for me. We have decided to continue that same tradition for Kaia. After all Valentine’s Day is a day to show your loved one’s how much you care. Dolls have come a long way since I was a child. Zylie the Bear and Shen the Panda are incredibly detailed dolls. What I like most is that they are a cross between a traditional 18 inch doll and a stuffed animal. Zylie the Bear is incredibly stylish (I mean it) she is better dressed then I am. Kaia adores her and loves getting her dressed and “reading” her story to her. What I was really excited about was Shen the Panda here’s why, sadly in our culture Doll’s are mostly girls toys they are marketed to girls and they are generally made with frills and lace and girly things. It is so refreshing to see a Doll that appeals to boys too. Of course Shen appeals to girls as well (he’s a rock star*) but he is stylishly wearing boys clothes and with his drumsticks in hand he is a very cool bear. Mikey loves dolls (he see’s his sister play with them all day long) and now he has one that he can call his own. These bears are beautiful and they also have a great story to go along with them they are world travelers. They each come with a book, a bag, and a passport ( and their amazingly stylish outfits). If you will be traveling this is a great way to help ease your child into what can be expected. And if you’re not traveling this is still a great opportunity to talk about different places, people, and more.

Meet Zylie, the fun new teddy bear that’s designed to be dressed and played with like a doll! She comes complete with her signature outfit, accessories, and the first book in her adventure series!

•18″ jointed bear with fashionable clothes and accessories
•Comes with signature flounce top, skinny jeans and white coat
•Kit also includes Zylie orange tote, complete with her map, diary and passport
•First book in the Zylie adventure series included!

Meet Shen, Zylie’s panda friend from China! His kit comes with an 18″ plush Shen panda, in his green t-shirt, cool leather jacket and blue jeans. He also has his backpack, filled with his passport and, most importantly, his drumsticks

•18″ jointed bear with fashionable clothes and accessories
•Comes with signature leather jacket, khakis and green tee-shirt
•Kit also includes Shen’s backpack with his passport and all-important drum sticks
•Second book in the Zylie adventure series included!

Buy It: You can purchase Zylie the Bear on the Zylie the Bear site. Hurry they are on SALE right now!

Win It: One lucky reader will win a Zylie the Bear Kit and Shen the Panda Kit a ($150 Value). To enter FIRST YOU MUST BE A FOLLOWER OF MY BLOG VIA GOOGLE FRIEND CONNECT. Next visit the Zylie the Bear site and tell me about something you learned or liked like one of their new outfits. .
