Shampoo and Oil Discovery Bottle

Only use Gatorade or G2 bottles for the sensory bottles they are a heavier plastic so they hold up better and keep a unison look so everything looks good. They come in different sizes you can find smaller ones for small hands if you need to.

Make sure to ALWAYS seal your bottles securely! I cannot emphasize this enough. Unless you want your bottle opened and the contents poured out. SEAL IT… with glue. Duct tape can be peeled off by a determined kiddo. Glue is much harder for them to open up.

Shampoo and Baby Oil
Add Shampoo and Baby oil. I added some florescent water color paint so that the kids could see the color mix and separate

After awhile it separates even more to several different layers

  1. How much baby oil and how much shampoo?

    • I always eye ball it part of the fun is that each bottle varies. I think for the one in the picture it was about 1/3 shampoo 2/3 baby oil with some paint thrown in there to add color and contrast. You should play with it though try half and half add some glitter or sequins. One of the truly great things about discovery bottles is that you can always discover new and exciting ones by experimenting

  2. Did you buy the fluorescent water color paint online? If yes, can you tell where you found it?

  3. Pam Morningstar says:

How long does it take to separate back out usually?

    • debra92691 says:

a few days i would say three to 5 for it to separate out fully to the very different layers. in one day it will separate to two layers though
