Sound Jars

Materials Needed:
Use Pill bottles (I like these best because they are the hardest for kids to open) or other securely sealed small container and add material ingredients that will make different sounds use only one material in each bottle such as:

Beans
popcorn kernels
rice
beads
gravel
sand
flour
water
Any other ideas?

Directions:
1. Add each ingredient singularly (each bottle only has one ingredient)
2. I make two of each so that the kids can match the sounds.
3. Let the children shake and listen to the bottles, they may then try to match up the sounds in the bottles.

Comments

  1. Very fun! Also a safe way for young babies to explore materials they may otherwise not be able to . Thanks for sharing with Tuesday Tots. Pinned!

  2. I’ve found that it also helps to superglue them shut. Thanks for the ideas! We love using lentils as well.
